PEERS™ for Adults

LittleStar is now pleased to be offering social skills groups led by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst using the only evidence-based social skills curriculum, PEERS™!

The PEERS curriculum is based out of UCLA in Los Angeles, California and has been used in over 70 countries and translated into over a dozen languages. It was recently featured on the Netflix show “Love on the Spectrum!”

For Adults

PEERS for Adults is a 14-week evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated adults who are interested in learning new ways of making and keeping friends. During each group session, adults are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills in session during socialization activities. Parents attend separate sessions 3 times throughout the course and are taught how to assist the adult in making and keeping friends by helping to expand their adult’s social network and providing feedback through coaching during weekly socialization homework assignments. Parent participation is required.

In this group, adults will learn how to:

  • Use appropriate conversational skills
  • Use humor appropriately
  • Use electronic communication
  • Enter and exit conversations
  • Be a good host during get-togethers
  • Plan and execute a date
  • Prepare and interview for a job
  • Be a good sport
  • Handle arguments and disagreements
  • Change a bad reputation
  • Handle rumors and gossip
  • Handle rejection, teasing, and bullying
